A real gem in the heart of Bologna. It's classy and stylish without being fussy, and provides everything you're hoping for from a good hotel. All of the staff were very kind, and the rooms felt very clean and welcoming with the hand drawn and painted decorations (there were even little birds painted on the ceiling). It's located just steps from all the activity on the Piazza Maggiore, but being on a side street it is also quiet and calm. The breakfast spread is amazing, to the point we were actually taking pictures of how beautiful and comprehensive it was. This hotel is definitely worth seeking out.
We had a fantastic experience at Phi Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is calm, stylish, and thoughtfully maintained, which made it an easy place to relax after exploring the city. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The bed was especially good—supportive, cosy, and perfect for a great night’s sleep. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight: fresh, varied, and beautifully presented, with plenty of choice whether you want something light or something more indulgent. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant one evening, and it was an excellent decision. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. The service was warm and professional, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, Phi Hotel delivered everything we hoped for—comfort, quality, and genuine hospitality. We left feeling refreshed and very well looked after. Highly recommended.
I don’t often review hotels because the experience is always subjective and more or less useless to other people with different expectations, but Phi Hotel in Bologna was superb. The staff were immediately responsive to emails, welcoming and friendly at the property. The location is perfect - right off piazza maggiore - but calm and quiet. The room was clean, comfortable and fun. The whole hotel is decorated by comic artists, but really tastefully done, not over the top or kitschy. Breakfast was so good that I would come here regularly if I were lucky enough to live in Bologna. Incredibly good value for the money and a thoroughly wonderful experience. So glad I skipped Airbnb in favor of a REAL hotel. Thank you!
Great location. However the power went out, and we lost wifi. They eventually fixed the power but would not fix the wifi until the next morning. I communicated my frustration with the power and wifi situation to the receptionist when she asked how our stay was and she didn’t seem to care, which was also odd. Side note, I stayed at the appartment logia and there were very loud neighbors and the church bell rings every hour. If you’re a light sleeper, you’ll be woken up frequently.
This hotel is in a great location and we had a wonderful one-night stay. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended.
